Although the kitchen does not have a large amount of direct water accumulation, there is a long-term presence of splashing water from washing vegetables and dishes, as well as hidden moisture such as pipe condensation and damp floors. The key application of waterproof substrates is to:
Ground and wall base: The ground needs to be waterproofed as a whole, especially the ground and surrounding walls below the sink (with a height of about 30-50cm), to prevent water leakage or splashing from the sink from penetrating into the downstairs or adjacent rooms.
Surrounding the pipeline: The connection between the water pipe under the sink, gas pipeline and the wall/floor should be sealed with waterproof sealant or waterproof mortar to prevent moisture from spreading along the pipeline gaps.
Cabinet bottom: Some households will apply additional waterproof coating on the floor of the cabinet bottom to prevent the boards from rotting and mold growth caused by long-term moisture under the cabinet.
